WORKING FROM HOME 101: How to Actually Get Stuff Done
Hey, cuties! How is everyone holding up?! To be honest this stay at home life is not much different than my daily routine! But If you’re fortunate enough to be working from home, you might be struggling a bit – AND THAT’S OKAY!!!
I’ve been working from home for about 5 years now and I’m happy to share what works for me and what doesn’t with today’s post! SO, here we go- let’s dive into my top #workfromhome tips!
ONE : PAJAMA TOP (and shorts) (L) || TWO : PAJAMA PANTS (XS, S, L) || THREE : BOW SOCKS</p
Tip No. 1: Create a Morning Routine
Bring some normalcy back to your day! Get dressed in the morning (even from the top up), make your own morning coffee, stretch/meditate (I usually dance), reviewing your todo list (I make mine the night before). I don’t usually wear makeup but will do a skincare morning routine, all of this helps start you on track
ONE : DRESS (XS – XL) || TWO : HEADBAND || THREE : HEELS || FOUR : DESK
Tip No. 2: Organize Your Space
Set up a workspace that’s comfortable, lit & organized. I don’t recommend working from the couch or bed. You can set up on the kitchen table with a coffee, office supplies, chargers & a laptop. Taking a little time to set up your space makes such a difference
ONE : DRESS (00 – 16) || TWO : COAT (XXS – XXL) || THREE : HEADBAND || FOUR : HEELS </p
Tip No. 3: Schedule Breaks
Schedule breaks for lunch, snacks & physical movements. This gives you something to look forward to and keeps you motivated. If you thrive in structured environments try scheduling every second of your day! It sounds crazy but when I first started working from home I would schedule everything from bathroom and water breaks. It really helped me develop a great work from home routine. For breaks I often I’ll take a full 30 min lunch break and watch a show, do an exercise, open a window or go to another room to make it really feel like a break.
Tip No. 4: Don’t go it Alone
Fust as you would meet for lunch or happy hour with work friends, I do the same via facetime with my blogger friends and colleagues. I schedule lunch meetings with other friends working from home so we can FaceTime and eat a meal together.
I will play a Disney movie or musical I’ve seen 10000 times, Harry Potter audiobook, or music in the background so it’s not silent. I make theme days like “Motown Mondays” or Kpop Tuesday and just play a random Spotify playlist. Click the link above for my personal favorites!
I like to schedule my calls together, write 5 blog posts at once or spend one-afternoon editing photos for the week. This helps me stay focused and more productive instead of being so scatterbrained. It also gives me something to look forward to if I love a certain activity (like I love when I get to answer Instagram DM’S) and keeps things from feeling so mundane and endless.
I hope those tips were helpful!!!
Keep in mind this is a struggle and an adjustment for everyone, but maybe its a work from home revolution!! If we can all do our jobs and do it well, it might be a total shift in the workplace structure where we all get to work from home more in the future!!!
