Throwback TV shows
Hey cuties! today we’re talking throw back TV shows worth watching or rewatching while I round up what I’ve recently revisited!
Bootie ||Headband || Similar green dress || Mini Bag Bag
similar dress || Look for less bag || Similar Dress || emerald green dress
I hope you’re staying at home and saying safe, but that might come with an increased TV time SO I thought I would share some throw back shows I’ve been watching or rewatching lately, I’ll break them up for you by platform!
THROW BACK SHOWS ON DISNEY+
DISNEY+: on Disney+ you can stream Disney, Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, Nat Geo, some fox & more all for $7 a month (or $13 a month when you bundle Hulu & ESPN)! I actually feel like I’m robbing Disney with all the value this platform brings me, I watch it constantly! it’s mostly talked about for movies BUT TV is really where it’s at, here !
Boy Meets World (1993)
Paris and I recently rewatched this, and it might be one of the best TV shows ever made. Season 7 goes a bit off course, but I was blown away by how much this show has stood the test of time & appreciated it SO MUCH MORE as an adult then I ever did as a child
DuckTales (1987)
When you’re done with this one there’s a movie to watch & a whole recent reboot, so you can keep watching!
Kim Possible (2002)
I loved this show as a kid & loved it just as much on the rewatch! Plus there is a movie and a life action remake (I haven’t seen this one yet) to enjoy when you’re through!
Goof Troop (1992)
This was the first thing I watched on Disney+, I didn’t realize it leads into one of my favorite Disney Movies: A Goofy Movie! So after you are done the series watch A Goofy Movie & An Extremely Goofy Movie, thank me later.
Smart Guy (1996)
Another show far ahead of its time: A black single dad who owns his now business, with a genius black son & a feminist daughter! I mean, we don’t even have this representation NOW on TV! It’s super “smart”, funny & totally worth a re-watch.
BEST THROW BACK SHOWS ON HULU
HULU: I’ve had Hulu forever and see no reason to get rid of it anytime soon – especially now. I think of all my services I use this THIS MOST. We have the live package that allows us to watch a ton of live TV same day or the day after it premieres, but there are also some good throwbacks to watch there too.
How I Met Your Mother (2005)
I think this is the most recent of the shows I’ll cover. We just finished rewatching 2 weeks ago and I LOVED IT more than I did on first watch. The show is actually more impressive the second time around because of how well they matched up the story. There are some things (Barney) that maybe don’t age super well but BC its NPH it didn’t bother me, give it a re-watch & enjoy!
Smallville (2001)
I didn’t watch this one in 2001 but have recently been into super hero movies after we watched all the Marvel ones last fall, for me this felt like a fun next step. I’m obsessed with the prequel concept of meeting Clark Kent before he’s super hero, and the fun mix of teen angst in a early 2000’s world makes it even more of a must-watch for me! Enjoy!
Living Single (1993)
I had never seen an episode here (I know, I know) but really enjoyed watching it for the first time last summer. Paris, who watched it before felt it held up
Everybody Hates Chris (2005)
A show I had never seen from start to finish but LOVED on re-watch and in order. It’s so smart & hilarious, such a genius concept that I would love to see replicated with other current famous people too – maybe a Mindy version please!
Hey Arnold (1996)
I’ve rewatched this more than I’ll care to admit. Pre-Disney+ it was my goto for a feel good throw back. You can watch it in order or just episode to episode, sometimes I’ll toss it on while I eat lunch or for a break between working. I loved it just as much as I did as a child, Doug also held up but Rugrats no so much! When you finish Hey Arnold, you can also watch the Jungle Movie on Hulu as well.
Veronica Mars (2004)
Another one I had never seen, I watched it all about a year ago and immediately went in for another watch. I can now see why it was such a fan favorite that resulted in a cult following and a crown-funded movie. They also recently rebooted it and although it’s not as good as the original its a fun watch! Full disclosure tho, I’ve never seen the movie but I’ve heard it is just ok.
Friday Night Lights (2006)
Another show I’ve watched & rewatched because it gives you all the feels. Season 1, episode 1 dives right in with some intense topics and the show continues walks that line of heart warming & heart wrenching for all 5 seasons. Plus you’ll see a lot of TV and movie stars getting their start, and that’s always fun
Seinfeld (1989)
Add this one to the list of shows I never watched until recently. About 2 years ago I did it from the beginning, and aside from having one of the worst endings in TV history (seriously, just skip the last few episodes) the show was just as loved by 2018 me as it was by the original 1990’s audience. Watch it, laugh, and enjoy!
BEST THROWBACK SHOWS ON NETFLIX
NETFLIX: I feel silly telling you about Netflix, but as an early adaptor of the service (yet I even had the mail in service back in the day) I’ve always been a fan. I do feel like there is less movies on the platform than ever before, and am primarily signed up now for the new original content, but they do have some good throw back shows worth a re-watch
Gossip Girl (2017)
If I’m being honest, this show doesn’t hold up to my teen expectations, but maybe that is what makes it fun to rewatch? Seeing this awful outfits I obsessed over & revisiting one of the shows that convinced me to move to NYC now mostly makes me laugh, but is still fun to background binge, promise!
Pokemon Indigo League (2002)
I was a big Pokemon fan as a child including collection cards & merch, but I never watched the show. I mean, I was a busy kids with lots of activity so TV didn’t really fit into the schedule. I just started watching this about a week ago and I’m obsessed. it’s a good intro to Pokemon but also a fun re-watch for anyone familiar with the series. There’s 50+ episodes so enough to keep you busy for a while, full of complex backstories for characters that you probably never knew as a kid. Baby Paris was a big fan and he’s rewatching & enjoying it with me!
Gilmore Girls (2000)
Another show I was late to the game on, I probably watched it all for the first time 5 years ago? Ever since I revisit the show every Fall it is one of THE BEST. In 2016 Netflix launched the 4 part mini-sequel “A Year In a Life” that gives great ending to the show. I watched that again about a week ago and loved how it tackles loss & growing up in a unique way
OKAY so I hope that helped you with some your next “what should I watch: quarantine question, if not I have more posts coming soon to tackle all of your stay-inside-needs! Starting tomorrow I’ll be publishing every-day to keep you company during this time, so tune in tomorrow for another post.
