OK – I’ll admit – shopping small is sometimes hard. As a blogger, I have a certain kind of duty to share what I post, but that comes with a responsibility.

As a result, I usually shop small at Etsy, It’s kind of the perfect work around,

It helps me promote small shops but bring you the guarantee and protection of a company – meaning if something goes wrong with your order, Etsy’s got your back.

I will say, that I order on Etsy A LOT, probably 5 orders a month for the past 12 months, and have been a member since 2010.

if you’re an Etsy newbie or looking to purchase the right way,

here are a few things I’ve learned from talking to sellers!

Leave Reviews – I never used to do this until someone asked and I was like OMG DUH. Make sure you leave a review for every purchase, . Most etsy shops want to resolve any issue you may have, send them a message (& give them a few days to respond) before you blast them publicly please

Photos – if you can add a photo in your review it will be super helpful for other shoppers, . Most owners have to be their own models so it’s nice for them to have other options

Send Messages – As I mentioned above, send a message before posting a public review if you have an issue. But also use the message feature to ask questions or make requests!

Special Requests – coolest thing about shopping small is the owners will make adjustments to customize your order if you ask.

If you see earrings you want but you need clip ons, send a message and ask them to make you a custom listing for clip-ons.

I usually offer to pay more for a custom listing in my initial request to show how appreciative I am. For set I’m wearing today, it came in a different print

but I found this NYC print in her shop and asked if she could make me a custom order. The order is now available for all of you to shop too.

Favorite Items & Shops -When shopping on Otis I like to favorite items into lists (you can actually follow my favorites publicly if you’d like) and favorite the shop! I think it can help their shop to have more people favoriting the items & their shop

Look at the shop – Before I place a order for one solo item I try to add on something else, so I look through the rest of their shop for something small

(like a matching mask or scrunchie) to add on to my order. Make sure you check shipping times before you purchase too, its not fast fashion & most things are made to order so they’ll take time.

Be nice – & most importantly be nice to the etsy sellers, they are talented people who are running small businesses & are some of the nicest humans I’ve approached. 🙂 being nice is always a good idea !!!

OKAY! lets talk about this outfit

it is that epic combo of comfy & cute. These cotton elastic pieces are perfect for coming out of quarantine. I sent my exact sizes and Olga was able to create it to fit me prettier perfectly! I wear my paints higher waisted , but was able to add a belt top help create that look. The print is like a New York scene complete with food, parks & transformation in cooler tones with pops of yellow & green. In addition to this top & pant combo, Olga made me a bandana, mask & scrunchie to match! I played up the city print with these style of handbags and pretzel shape earrings, my favorite pretzel shape handbag purse & simple white sneakers!
