iMac Colors

Did you know Apple has been manipulating you with marketing? I can prove it to you! I’m obsessed with marketing so I’ve studied it for like ever. I’m also obsessed with color & I use apple products, soo color me excited to share the new iMac colors YAY!

If you’re a millennial or older you probably remember these candy-colored cuties a la 2001!

But did you know that apple donated million of them to schools? Yep for free? Whyyyyy you may ask? Well, the real reason was to help foster the next generation of Apple users. At the time they weren’t the industry leader that they are today so giving them to a school at a time where computer science was all the rage & computer lab days were THE best made most of us mac users FOR LIFE. We had Windows at home, but I begged and pleaded and even made a PowerPoint presentation to my parents discussing WHY I needed the apple green, apple to match my green floral walls.

I was denied and although my parents did get us some ugly forest green non-Mac computer (A for effort mom & dad) &&&& the lime green N64 (ok, maybe I can’t complain) – it wasn’t a Mac! So I was stuck writing my very important aim chats on my “not a mac” while the lime green goddess was what my y2k dreams were made of.

And so it began… I had a MacBook in college (bc everyone did) and I even fused two together (mine & my friends) to create “Franken-Mac” when my screen broke. We still have Franken-Mac, Paris used it for YEARS too long.

iPods, iPads, 8+ iPhones, iMacs & MacBooks later and Apple had introduced me to some of my favorite songs in their crazy cute commercials. COLOR devices, COLOR commercials, COLOR everywhere … until it wasn’t. Color me unimpressed when we went to buy our current iMac that I’m typing on right now & the only color it came in was SPACE GREY. not like normal grey, SPACE GREY a dark soul-sucking grey. “What about silver? Or rose gold” I asked, only to be told “it’s more professional & chic” … I’m sorry TO WHO. But we bought it & it’s served me well.

I’ll admit I strayed. When Microsoft approached me about launching a colorful computer I was all ears. They wanted Windows users to try their product and speak honestly about their experiences! I did and it ended up in a commercial, however, my name did not… You can see it here – and although I was promised a credit in addition to compensation (Especially since it used my content and likelihood that I base my livelihood on), after the release I was told it “tested better” without it… don’t get me wrong, I’m still thankful for the experience but not so much for the erasure. I wasn’t even looking for a “color me Courtney” … just “Courtney” & It didn’t go unnoticed to me what types of people got named credits, but that it is something I’ve become accustomed to!

I used my surface pro for a few more months & loved it. But every time I opened it I remembered the erasure and all the nasty online comments people posted because they thought I was an actress as opposed to a real person. Plus I had an iPhone, an iPad, an iMac & it just became easier to go back to my iMac. So I did. Space grey & me working through late nights… Until now.

NOW Apple has launched colorful iMacs and I’m COLOR ME PUMPED. It’s like a full circle Y2k moment perfectly timed when all those wonderful 2000 and something Trendz are coming back into style.

When I heard the news I celebrated on social and YOU CUTIES (my Instagram followers) sent my stuff directly to apple, resulting in me getting a private invite to view all the tech up close and personal. That’s what you’re seeing in this post, I also got to learn what makes these iMacs more than a pretty face

LET’S DIVE IN

The most important feature TO ME is the color. The new Apple M1 iMac Colors

iMac comes in 7 colors: Blue, purple, pink, orange, yellow, green & silver. You can also get a mouse or trackpad & keyboard to match. The front has a lighter more pastel hue while the back is bold – this will help make an impact from the back without distracting you too much while working. That POP of color is just enough to say “ keep going you got this” and not “ooohhhh stop what you’re doing and look at me”

OKAY OKAY now onto the tech stuff

So the iMac has vein virtually untouched since 2012 and that’s a testament to how well its designer. However the news the iMac Colors have a slimmer and more refined design. It really feels like a whole new iMac in the best way. The body is flatter and it no longer bevels the way it used it

The power cable has also got an upgrade, now attaching magnetically (oooooh) in a tidy and dare I say cute way! The trapzodeial foot has gotten smaller, neater & more rectangular on the new iMac & it’s overall just a lot lighter. 

BUT one of the coolest parts to me is in the chip. These macs come equipped with a mac-made chip. SO if you thought you were buying a 100% mac computer in the past, you were mistaken. The computers ran on intel processing chips. You probably didn’t notice it because it didn’t really matter. Your computer ran fine right? Well, the new iMac Colors will run better. Ever notice how apps open seamlessly on your iPhone but some non-apple-made apps stall a bit on your computer? NOT ANYMORE essentially now your apple insides will match its ap outside making it run smoother.

This also means all apple iPhone apps can be converted to your mac (YAY) I can’t tell you how frustrating that some of my amazing editing apps are ONLY available on my phone. As app developers start to make conversions you’ll be able to do more with your iMac than ever before

SO what do you think? I personally can’t WAIT to give one a whirl. In a work-from-home world, having that pop of color to hang with could change everything. I’m excited to say sayonara to my Space Grey & Hello Color!!!
