Carousel

When I was in the south of France we stayed at the prettiest hotel in nice, Hotel Negresco! As I mentioned, we went all over the south of France with various day trips but decided to keep Nice and this hotel as our home base.

The hotel was gorgeous and so colorful, which can be hard to find. My mom actually picked the place and did a great job. The owner is a famous art collector so each floor showcases a different part of his collection – we stayed on the Napoleon floor, which of all the floors was my favorite! The best part of the hotel is the carousel themed breakfast restaurant where we went for brunch.
I wore one of my favorite tops of the moment, this striped knotted number for only $29. I decided to style it two ways once in France at the Carousel and again in NYC after our return. Today I’ll show you both & the bra hack that made this shirt wearable. I love this top for so many reasons: the low price tag, the stripe pattern, the warm color scheme (orange and pink are some of my favorite pairings), and the knotted detail that creates a small waist shape. This knot detail is really flattering, it can show off your girls just enough while either showcasing or slimming your waist … all things we love.

Bra Hack: The low cut nature of the top can be problematic, if you don’t have the right braw for it and I totally didn’t on this tripe. So I used a quick bra hack to make it work: I took a safety pin and attached it to the back of the knot inside the top, then latched the pin over the center of the bra (where it meets) to keep it from showing. I did this hack when I wore it to the carousel brunch with the pink skirt, but not when I wore it around the city with my wide leg pants and it totally made a difference because you can see it peaking out in the photos.

When back in NYC I gave this top a casual twist with Adidas sneakers, wide leg pants and a thick belt. I decided to tuck the top in, which is an idea I went back and forth with styling it with the skirt. With the skirt I decided to keep it untucked because it nips in at the waist as I mentioned above, but with the pants I tucked it in since they didn’t flare as wide as the skirt.
