DIY Halloween Costumes
Boo, Ahh!
One of my favorite holidays is just around the corner, so to get you in the spirit I’ll be bringing you some easy, last minute, DIY halloween costumes!
For those of you who have been following along since last year, you’ll know I shared a ton of DIY halloween costume ideas including Sandy from Grease, Black Swan, Holly Golightly and Poison Ivy to name a few. Since these images have been floating around on the wonderful world of pinterest, people have began to request for me to redo some of last year’s costumes with items that are currently available, so today I’m doing just that – anything for you guys 😉
HOLLY GOLIGHTLY – BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S
Let’s start with one of my favorites, a Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany’s DIY halloween costume! Breakfast at Tiffany’s always makes me think of the best friend during my stint in San Francisco, miss Emily who introduced me to all things Audrey. We would spend hours watching Audrey Hepburn movies and eating junk #classy. Em’s tall, slender and stylish … she would make the perfect Holly Golightly for Halloween. But even if you aren’t Holly G to a T, this could still be the costume for you, I might have to give the pajama look a whirl for a party of two this year!
So For this look I gave you two options, the classic LBD look we all associate with the timeless film (pearls and all) as well as the pajamas “sleepy” Holly Golightly wearing the most stylish of PJs. Breakfast at Tiffany’s!
DOROTHY (WIZARD OF OZ)
I can’t say I have ever dressed up as Dorothy, but ever since adding Waffles to the mix I have been quite tempted. Somehow Waffles in a basket doesn’t seem like the brightest idea, but it would probably make for a funny story!
SANDY FROM GREASE
Grease will always have a special place in my heart, so why not spend Halloween night singing “you’re the one that I want”? You could step into a pony tale and a smile, but I prefer pairing leather with lipstick to strut your stuff as the “bad-girl” Sandy from the final scene.
BLACK SWAN
This costume was really popular when the movie first came out, but I think it can still take a minor effort to make a major impact! I love the idea of being able to wear (or buy) a new tulle skirt Halloween purposes, but being able to wear it all year long!
POISON IVY
One of my other all time favorite costume ideas is Poison Ivy – the vixen villain from batman. If you’re a smoking hot red head and haven’t tried this look out yet, shame on you. Just kidding, well kind of 😉 I was Poison Ivy once a few years back in highschool, I combined one old velvet dance costume with the red fishnets from another and pinned leaves all over. There may have also been a clip in hair streak or two in the mix, but hey it was 2007ish so don’t judge me 🙂
If you didn’t see your dream costume in the mix, don’t fret I have more costumes coming your way in Sunday’s post! And feel free to request any costume ideas and I will do my best to spook something up for you!
Don’t Forget – Order the pieces featured in today’s post before Sunday to receive them in time for Halloween, or choose expedited shipping!
