Derby Day
Howdy & Happy Labor Day! Today I’m talking Toga Trip as I share my day at the races with Americas Best Racing!
This Saturday, I spent the day in Saratoga with a bunch of other bloggers for a day of brunch & betting! I didn’t make any money, actually I didn’t even get to bet because my money card got stuck in the machine… typical, but I did have a blast. Truthfully any day with macarons, mimosas and blogger babes is a win of me… although I wouldn’t of said no to a walking away with a few extra dollars in my pocket.
I was so excited to get this invite that I had to extend the offer to a few of my other blogger friends (Daisy, Mel & one of my new favorites, Lisa – who then brought her pal Cara). I was over the moon to find that my birthday twin Jen & my girl boss girl crush, Roxi were also in attendance – I love how small (and chic) the blogging world can be!
Elena, channeling her inner Kate Middelton, love!
Coming from the West Coast, I have never experienced a real horse race before, but always been fascinated with the Kentucky Derby (and let’s be honest, the idea of dressing for it)! I even had an awesome Derby party a few years back complete with large hats and all… coincidentally it’s when/where I purchased my first my first (and certainly not my last) kate spade dress.

Naturally I took full advantage of the opportunity to dress derby style complete with a big bow fasinator form Asos and this amazing skirt from Yoana Baraschi. For hats, I had a few options to choose from, but settled on the over-sized bow (as if there was ever any question).
America’s Best Racing has two locations one in Saratoga and one in Belmont! If you’re in the area, I totally recommend making a day of it at the races. If you do, you’ll need an awesome hat, I suggest Asos.com with free two day shipping and an over-the-top outfit like mine. Other then that, all you need to bring is some sunblock, good fortune and a smile!
