Work or Play – Japan Adventures
Bringing out all of the color for exploring in Japan!
Although I live in a cotton candy dream world where I’m my own boss and I get to see everything through rose colored glasses, there are still some rules that have to be enforced & followed. Including, having a killer wardrobe for both work and play!
When I’m looking for new basics to build my wardrobe with, I want looks that can go from work to weekend and everywhere in between, and (most importantly) that stay true to my personal style, which in one world is colorful! I’m totally classic with a twist in a whimsical way, so I have to stick to retailers that get me, but also take my personal style to another level.
For me, Banana Republic is an easy go-to option. I can always trust them to develop a high quality, on trend product that I’ll love forever. An easy way to achieve my style, is to look for a classic piece, purchase it in a bright color and wear it in an unexpected way! I love that Banana always gives me lots of color options, so I can find a go-to piece and pick it up in a few fun pops to keep up with the color craze going on in my closet.
I love that this look is two faced, at first glance a sweater and pencil skirt sounds like a go-to office look, perfect for a day or meetings or entertaining clients, which would usually be the case. Since I want to be a true representation of me and my personal style at all Color Me Courtney meetings, I have to keep in professional but also pump things up a bit. Going with an over the top color combo like lime and orange helps me achieve this with ease. The neon knocks you off your feet but the classic and covered up silhouettes helps tone things down, but not too much. I could rock this look with nude pumps and a chambray blazer or layered over a white button up shirt for any Spring or Summer meeting with ease.
You know I work hard, but I actually play harder (well sometimes) right now I’m working overtime as I’m exploring Japan by day and cranking out Color Me Content by night! As a blogger, even my vacations aren’t vacations because they are all about sharing my experiences, which I totally love to do! Either way, I took this look to “play” for a day of adventure in Japan, we saw four temples, made three friends, toured two cities and took countless selfies #duh – needless to say there was a lot of walking going on, but this comfortable & stretchy skirt did not disappoint! Although nude pumps are awesome, they aren’t practical for a tourist, so I swapped them out for sneakers and played with pulling my denim jacket on and off all day!
