Reddy for Fall
Fall is here (well kind of) and that means one thing in New York: back to black… but not for me!I love living in New York; and as an Arizona born, San Francisco transplant, the last four years in the big apple have definitely shaped my style… but have also made me more me! Growing up in AZ I didn’t own any winter clothes, I had one (very light) purple trench and I remember being so excited when the weather read “75 degrees” because that meant I was wearing a coat, ha! Now that I have seasons, my style can evolve from month to month with different pieces and trends – yay!
New Yorkers love their black, but (as you know) I’m all about color – so when coat weather comes along I stand out like a cotton-candy-colored-crazy person in a red or pink coat while floating down the street. I switch out “black basics” like a cigarette pant or a peacoat, with fun, colorful ones a la Old Navy and opt for red as my go-to hue. Red is one of those colors that works year around, but I really love to bust it out for fall and wear it on into holiday (gosh, can you believe we’re almost there!!!).
As a “now” New Yorker, I have also started to wear pants more than I ever have before. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still in a dress 90% of the times, but there was a point in my life where I only owned two pairs of pants (serious) so this is a serious leg up for me. Cigarette style pants are usually my pair of choice to wear with a pump, colored flat or a stripe tee. They work for office wear or weekend wear depending on how you style them and can give me some serious Audrey Hepburn meets Jackie O vibes! When I found these fun colored pairs at Old Navy I went crazy and bought a few colors – pant’s don’t always fit me, so when they do and have a great price tag that Old Navy is known for, I don’t hesitate!
I pull my pants on with a graphic top, button down blouse or a boat neck tee to wear under a blazer or bold peacoat! The colored pant makes the wardrobe, it’s a really simple and chic way to add a bold color pop in a sophisticated way. if you’re afraid of wearing color this fall – here’s a great way to start!
No matter how you fall into color this season, I hope you do it gracefully with some of these fun and affordable pieces – I can’t wait to see how you wear them!
