Comfydent
Clothes are obviously important to me, I’m always trying out new trends, pushing fashion boundaries and forever dressing outside the lines but doing so isn’t always easy. Luckily, I have a secret super power that allows me to test the waters, and try something new without fear – confidence.
I’m a firm believer that you’re never fully dressed without a smile or confidence! If you show up with killer confidence, you can wear anything and totally own a room. My secret to confidence is always comfort, when I feel like myself, I can really act like myself in the most natural way.
Lately, I’ve been attending a lot of swanky work events, everything from the Young Members Party at the Met to the VH1 Hip Hop Honors at Lincoln Center. At these events, I always have to look the part, usually renting a designer dress (often made of itchy fabrics) and stepping into sky high stilettos. SO how does one find comfort in shoes that pinch and a dress that isn’t your own? You stick to what you know, even if no one can see it I’m talking about undies ladies and I don’t care who knows it!
I love a good cotton brief – it’s light weight, it’s comfortable and it just makes me feel like me! Full disclosure – I’m usually writing these posts when I’m my most comfortable, sitting next to my air conditioning unit at 2AM in an oversized Hanes cotton tee and briefs, because let’s be honest, sometimes that is way more comfortable than pajamas. I love that feeling, so I don’t know why I have to leave it for my late night blogging adventures, I want to take it with me out into the real world as my secret super power and one stop shop for immediate Comfydence (comfy + confident = comfydence)! So now you know, underneath that $1,500 Christian Siriano gown, flirty feather skirt or gorgeous fit and flare dress (all pictured), I’m keeping comfydent in my go-to Hanes Cool Comfort cotton underwear, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
So if I love my Hanes SO MUCH why hide them? I agree! When I’m not walking the red carpet, it’s kind of fun to show off my comfydence in a more playful way. Since I grew up dancing, I was always living in spankies which are basically short spandex shorts made for dancing! For as long as I can remember, I would wear these shorts under everything from twirl worthy dresses to flowy shorts and even jeans – I just loved the added comfort they gave me! When I moved to NYC and experienced some serious humidity for the first time, I realized the spandex fabric had to go, so I switched on over to boy shorts, like these cuties from Hanes! This summer has been especially swampy, so I’m loving their new Cool Comfort packs! They help me achieve my ultimate level of comfydence, enough to let them show a little while pairing them with a perfect cotton tee! Thanks to Hanes for partnering on this post.
