Ballet Ball
One, two, three – twirl!
Confession – I’ve always wanted to be a ballerina, well a ballerina/astronaut/princess but like same thing right?
I grew up studying dance including ballet! I tried my best and wasn’t too bad but knew I would never become a ballerina because I didn’t have the bod for it, boo! But Last week all of ballet princess dreams came true when me and my blogger bestie, Olivia of Corporate Catwalk ventured off to the winter ballet ball !
The ball took place at Lincoln Center to help celebrate those who have helped fund the School of American Ballet, together they raised nearly 1.2 million dollars for scholarships and school programs. Ballet is one of those sports that sometimes gets identified as an “elite” program where only those with money can partake – but this isn’t always the case. Dance is extremely expensive but some are discovered early on a recognized for their talent – people like those in attendance to the winter ball last night help fund their way and support their journey towards achieving their dancing dreams, I mean how awesome is that!
I feel so lucky that my parents helped support my hobby of dance, although I didn’t go on to dance professionally and never intended to – I did get my two best friends from my years of dance, countless lessons, relationships and memories. It was so fun to relive some of those moments with Olivia as we twirled our way though the night!
One of the best parts of attending a ball is to get dressed up! We went to the rent the runway store last Monday morning in the flatiron district and played dress up until we found the perfect outfits for the night! Olivia went with a gorgeous white beaded gown (hop to her blog to see) and I went with crazy color and a flirty hem.
I am so head over heels for this pretty pink party dress that I never wanted to take it off! The dress was so comfortable, but also really classic and timeless all while bringing a dash of whimsy that got me noticed all night. Although I’ll probably never own a Christian Siriano Dress because of the sixteen hundred dollar price tag, I loved playing pretend while having my pink princess moment in this rented gown!
Since you know I only have about five hair styles up my sleeve I braided myself into a crown braid so I really felt like a princess! I fell asleep right before the event (so glamorous right) so I only had about thirty min for hair and makeup!
I’ve loved the turquoise and pink color combo ever since Kate Hudson had that red carpet moment styled by Rachel Zoe a zillion years ago! So to complete the look, I added turquoise earrings (rented) and a bauble ring (rented) before grabbing my new rainbow clutch (not rented lol) and twirling out the door! I keep things nude and neutral in the heel department and stepped into my favorite new pumps – they’re currently 25% off and seriously so comfortable (shop them here), I’m totally going back for a few more colors #dontjudgeme
Over all, we had a Ball – ate our weight in desserts, danced along to Rihanna and laughed the whole time. Nothing is quite as fun as dressing up and stepping out with your best gal!SHOP THE LOOK:
